Beautiful Dreamer

I sat with him, in a dark corner of a coffee shop called "The Neptune". I drank my coffee slow and watched him light up his last cigarette. We listened to the poet on stage, doing a very beautiful rendition of Poe's "The Conqueror Worm" I looked at him looking at the poet on stage, I studied every line of his perfect lips and every star in his brilliant olive eyes and I almost gasped when his dark hair fell over his face, enveloping him. I noticed a tattoo on his wrist, a quote from Macbeth. It had hardly been an hour since we had met, but I felt like I had known him for years. It was a full house, thats the only reason he had sat with me, we were perfect strangers until that night but in my head I couldn't help but think it was fate. We had a few meaningless conversations through the night, some about nothing, some about everything. It was just so nice to hear him speak, his words made me drunk. Out of all the pointless New York nights I had spent at that little place I am glad it was tonight that I met him. He made what had been a terrible day seem a hell of a lot better. The night ended just before eleven and we both left unwillingly. He slipped me his number and kissed me on the cheek. A mysterious stranger, a perfect creation, a beautiful dreamer, left before I even caught his name.

Nothing less than wonderful

I've never been the greatest at verbalizing my feelings. I always stutter and stammer until I feel like a complete fool. I just wish I could get over that fear and tell him how I feel. There is this boy, a boy that I care about more than anything. I have for quite some time now. He and I are great friends, he is so very easy to talk to. But this is completely different. I can talk to him about what happens at the end of "White Oleander", I can talk to him about reading the latest Shonen Jump manga, I can even talk to him about the most personal of problems. I just can't tell him how I feel. It all boils down to the thought that I'd rather have him as a friend than to risk losing him altogether. But when he says hello or simply waves at me I lose my breath for a second. When he hugs me I feel like I am meant to be in his arms. I just wish that he was as easy to talk to about this as my computer monitor is. Anyway, thank you for listening.

This is a drawing I did a few days ago. If you are an anime fan like I am then you should be able to tell this is Byakuya from the anime/manga bleach. He's one of my very favorite characters. I watch a lot of anime, I like the beauty of it. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the animation we are all used to but if you have never watched anime or read a manga then you will see what I am talking about. I wish to get better at drawing anime and one day make my own manga with my own original characters. Anyway, I can't really think of anything else to type so I guess thats all. I know this is a bit of a random post but it cured my bordom therefore it did its job! I do suggest that if you havn't saw an anime check one out. My favorites are Bleach, Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop, Deathnote, Witch Hunter Robin, and Wolfs Rain.

Typical strange dreams or E.S.P.?

My brother (as a baby) would sit up in his crib and sing songs to the moon. My cousin (also as a baby, keep in mind she was just learning to speak) would look out the window and talk to a Native American on a white horse that she addressed as "Chief Pow". My other two cousins as children were arguing in their bedroom, looked to the window and saw a sasquatch like creature peering at them. Even my mother had several very strange supernatural experiences dealing with spirits. So perhaps it was inevitable that I would develop some type of gift or atleast have some strange experiences of my own.

As a child I remember having a very vivid dream of a burning house, it was so real that I can remember feeling the heat from the flames. A few days after the dream my paternal grandmother Wilma's house burned to the ground. That dream is the first I can remember but I know there were more before it. Another example was a dream of mine that lasted a whole week. The first dream I was running from a hooded killer, she caught up to me and stabbed me and said "six more days". I woke up terrified. The next night I was running from the same killer, I tripped over something and she injected me with some sort of poision and said "five more days" this continued the entire week. When the final dream came about I was running from her again. In this dream she tied me up and walked me to a giant mirror. She told me to look in it and as I did I realized the killer was me. I still have no idea what that dream was about. Perhaps some deep hatred for myself or maybe something as simple as self discovery. With that said I am now going to tell you the most recent one, the strangest of all...

It began with a dream. I was in the woods near where I live. I was walking along a path and this little girl who appeared to be around ten stepped out in front of me. She had blonde curly hair and was dressed in a white Victorian dress splattered with blood drops. She looked at me, she was crying and injured quite badly. She managed to tell me her name was Anna and she was trying to escape (though she never stated from what). She pleaded for my help. She then disappeared and I heard a distant blood curdling scream and the sound of either a knife or an ax clanging against a rock. I woke up scared half to death, I wrote the dream down in my journal and told my mother, only my mother, about it the next day. The night after I had the very same dream again only at the end of this one I saw a news paper, all of it was blurry except the headline which read "young girl meets tragic end". Again I woke up terrified. After that one I told my mother again. Later that day (keep in mind this part was real, not a dream) my father, his friend Rex, and I went to ride our ATV's in the woods. We came to this spot when Rex stopped his four wheeler. He pointed up at this hill and told us about a small, very old cemetary up there. We got off of our four wheelers and walked up to it. The woods in that area were the woods I had saw in my dream which was strange. There were only seven graves, all illegible except for one. It had the name Anna written on it followed by the years 1809-1818. I couldn't move, I couldn't breath. My father asked me what was wrong and I told him absolutely everything. I could tell they wanted to believe me but couldn't hardly do it. So when we returned home I showed him the journal entry which was dated and I had my mother tell him. I've tried several times to find old newspaper articles and things to see if I could find the one in my dream but each time I come up empty handed. I believe the girl in my dream was murdered there. I believe her spirit was trying to get me to help her so she could finally rest. I am still looking for articles online and at local libraries and I hope to eventually solve this puzzle.

I have several other dreams I could write about, I may sometime but not just yet. I am really interested in other people's thoughts on these dreams so feel free to leave a comment.

Music...

Guitar rifts, drum solos, painfully beautiful lyrics, all major ingredients in the recipe of therapy that helps keep me sane. Music in general is a wonderful thing, everyone loves music, its the thing that all human beings have in common. I myself prefer different varieties of rock. I like music that has meaning (It makes my stomach turn to hear songs about girls wearing tight jeans and I swear to God if I have to hear "I wanna lick you like a lollipop" one more time I will punch something!) I am a huge My Chemical Romance, Chiodos, and Aiden fan. Eventhough the lyrics are dark, they always seem to brighten up my day. I am very much into punk, screamo, emo, and indie music. I love the sound of the instruments being played and the beauty behind the lyrics is almost hypnotic to me. At this point I am basically rambling so I am ending this entry. But before I do promise me you will check out these five songs...

Smashing Pumpkins "Bullet With Butterfly Wings"
The Cranberries "Zombie"
Goo Goo Dolls "Black Balloon"
Alice In Chains "Would"
Jethro Tull "Aqualung"

All are amazing songs, all for different reasons but they are among my very favorites.

Just thinking...

I've been thinking a lot about the future lately. I know that isn't big news, everyone thinks about the future, but I've changed a lot as a person in the past few weeks therefore I've been reevaluating my whole life practically. See, where I come from the people think happiness is built through having a family of your very own, all the kids around my age say that want to be married and have kids one day and have a nice house near their parents. So apparantly if you don't have these things you aren't truely happy. I used to laugh at these people, I used to think they were ignorant if you want to know the truth. But lately I've been considering the possibility myself. I wouldn't want to live here, as a matter of fact I want to live in a big city somewhere. But as far as marriage and children, I've been thinking that these things really are important to have a whole, fulfilled life. I've always liked children, thats one of the main reasons I want to be a teacher. But I never really thought of having kids of my own someday. The idea of having a nice family of my very own has actually become quite appealing. I even had a dream last night of what my children would look like. I've always been very independent and before a few weeks ago these thoughts would have scared me. I would have thought that a family would keep me from accomplishing the things I want to accomplish in my life. Now I think just the opposite. I know my family has always supported me and loved me and I know I need a great support system of my own. But these thoughts bring up the question "will I ever find Mr. Right?" I've dated boys. Most of them are still great friends of mine. But not one of those relationships would have ever amounted to anything. I even knew that before we dated. I was just lonely I guess and I needed a companion of sorts. Anyway I'm a little tired of talking about this issue so I suppose if its meant for me to find my knight in shining armour and have little princesses and princes I will, and if its not then thats just fine too.

Tattoo...

I've been trying to figure out for some time now what I love enough to have tattooed forever on my body. I've thought about feminine flowers, stereotypical stars, and even once, a pirate ship. But last night I finally figured out what I really want. I love the writings of Edgar Allan Poe. He was amazing at the art of poetry and story writing and his work transcends time. With that said I am going to get two ravens holding up a torn and tattered banner that reads "Quoth the raven nevermore". Poe was my inspiration to start writing. His poems "The Raven" and "The Conqueror Worm" were the very pieces that made me want to start writing poems of my very own. I also think that if Mr. Poe were alive today he would be very pleased with the idea of being the main idea behind a tattoo. As a matter of fact I think it would make him proud. This tattoo will be my first one, but I plan on getting more. I already have plans for my second tattoo as well. The next one will be a piece inspired by the art of Salvador Dali. His paintings are among my favorites. The images of melting clocks and elephants on stilts always manage to spark my creativity. His paintings are nothing short of wonderous. The colors, the ideas behind the art, the hand that held the paintbrush itself, absolutely stunning. The works of Mr. Dali and Mr. Poe always manage to make me understand parts of my heart that I never even knew existed. Anyway, enough rambling for the night.

A little about myself

I figured I would start my blog off with a little about myself. My full name is Andrea Elise Garrett though most people call me Andy. I was born on April Fools Day in the year 1990 therefore I am almost nineteen. I live in a small town called Keokee, its in the state of Virginia. I love writing poetry, reading, drawing, painting, playing guitar, listening to music (mainly varieties of rock or metal), and watching anime (Japanese animation). I am in college and I am eventually going to be a kindergarten or first grade teacher and someday in the future I wish to open up my own tattoo shop.

My parents are Dorothy Jean Garrett and Stevie Gale Garrett and I have an older half brother named Christopher Michael Rose. We share the same mother but different fathers. My brother is one of my very best friends even with our eighteen year age difference. I have spats with my parents just like any normal teenager, but thats just part of growing up. They always support me and no matter what I do I know they will always love me.

I have lots of friends, but my best friends are Ashley Cathleen Flanary and Cody Allen Cress. I've known Ashley since I was thirteen and she is the sweetest most amazing friend in the entire world. I've only known Cody for a year or so but he is an amazing guy and a wonderful friend as well. I would be absolutely nothing without my friends and family, they are the best support system in the entire universe.

I have very strong oppinions of things. I believe everyone no matter their race, sexual preference, or religious beliefs should have equal rights. I believe everyone deserves the same respect, after all America was founded upon the idea of being free. I do not believe in animal testing, animals have just as many feelings as we do so why should humans have the right to hurt them? I am also an environmentalist. I recycle, I wear organic cotton clothing, I only drive when I absolutely have to, and many other things to help keep our Earth clean and safe. Also, I wold like to state that I believe what I believe and no matter who leaves disrespectful comments on my blog you will not change my mind.

I have tons of other things I could write about, but I was always taught that less is more. So with that statement I am ending my very first blog.

Much love and peace
Andy
